install unity 2018.4.26f1 on mac os 10.11.6
I'm trying to set up my very old iMac with Unity so that I can teach a 12-year-old how to code in Unity. My iMac runs Mac OS X El Capitan (10.11.6) and cannot run a later version. I downloaded and installed Unity Hub; that seems to run ok. I downloaded Unity 2018.4.26f1 Download Assistant from the LTS page; it is the latest version for El Capitan. From the Download Assistant I installed Unity, Visual Studio for Mac, Mac Build Support (IL2CPP), and WebGL Build Support. If I remember correctly, that version of VS said it wouldn't run on El Capitan. I ended up installing Visual Studio for Mac Community 7.8.4 (build 1). Unity 2018 seems to be running ok, but I'm having trouble with Visual Studio: it is not recognizing UnityEngine, Rigidbody, Time.deltaTime, transform. I don't think it can see UnityEngine.dll, which is in /Applications/Unity/Hub/2018.4.26f1/Unity.app/Contents/Managed. Can anyone help me?

I think i know the problem you need to go to edit preferences and external tools and external script editor and then select visual studio in the drop down menu
