Server always online ~ powered by website?
Hi,
I have a multiplayer game which is going great! I understand most of unity networking, eg: how to control players properly, rpcs, connecting, usernames, reduction of lag, etc.
BUT at the moment in the game, you must put an IP. How do I make it so that you need no IP and it just connects everyone (about 10 players) to a website or online host? Im not sure on the term either. Would it be Master Server? idk..
Thanks in advance,
Nic
ACtualy, It is quite easy, well from tuts I have seen. You need to get a list of the servers, then make thenm buttons that when you click, runs Ip and goes trough
So no site required, although I don't know how to go from Unity to Outside sources. $$anonymous$$ind if I ask how you got multiplayer working? $$anonymous$$e never works.
but what never works about it? I used to have problems with lag and player controls, but theyre easy to fix. If you make a question and link it here, i can help you.

What you are talking about is called "discovery". The short answer is you need to run a server for it, or you need to us someone else's servers like Gamespy.
If you a re going to run your own server, you can build your own, or use "socket serve" like Photon.
I would like to create my own solution though, not a third party unity based asset.
