DXT texture format on Mali GPU

I compress my Texture With DXT format and ran the game on samsong mali Gpu (android) , and everything was good. and also run on an Adreno Hardware To. (that was good too) but i read that only Tegra Gpu can handle this Format(DXT) , So what is Wrong ? can we Compress our texture with any format and run the game on all android devices .
