How can I change ProGrids scale of just the x or y axis?
I'm trying to learn to like ProGrids as a neat snappy tool for moving objects in Unity, but I don't want my x and y scales to match: I want 1 x-unit for every 1.1547 y-units (or 1 y-unit for each 0.866 x-units). Does anyone know how to achieve this kind of snapping?*
So far, I can only find how to change the scales of both axes uniformly, e.g. 7 x-units per 7 y-units.
If anyone is interested, I need to alter the x/y unit ratio because I'm working with a hexagonal grid, not a square-grid.
*In general, I would like to be able to define a whole class of snapping y/x ratios, not just the default "x/y = 1" metric. In this question, I'm asking for "x/y = 0.866", which the function
y = 1.547*x
but there is no mathematical reason why we couldn't also have a grid defined by
y = x^3
or any other
y = f(x)
where f(0) = 0, f: R -> R is a (continuous, strictly increasing) bijective function from [-infty, +infty] to [-infty, +infty].
If anyone knows how to define a snapping-tool to achieve this effect for arbitrary f, that would be wicked!
