Locking Camera Rotation in VR

I'm using the gearvr with another external IMU for the POSE. How would I go about locking the rotation of the camera? I can already get the POSE data I need from the new IMU in unity and can add it to a parent object of the main camera but (and this could be because I'm using unity 2017 with Vr options built in instead of using the example scripts) the main camera is still using the pose of the internal IMU of the phone. Any thoughts on how I can lock it and then just move it and the parent?
