xbox controller not mapping

Hi all

I know this has been asked a lot. I've read through most the posts. I can't seem to map the wired xbox controller. The left thumb stick works for movement but I can't map the left thumb stick or any of the buttons. I've used the wiki xbox guide for the button mapping.Thanks1
