Scene pane shows no axes - how to turn them on?

My scene pane is just dark gray. I don't see any axes. How do I turn them on

Thanks Veehmot!

See axis on dictionary.com: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/axis Look at the 'plural' = "axes".

The axes (plural of axis ;) will only show up if you have something selected in your hierarchy and you have either the move, rotate or scale manipulators selected (press W, E or R to switch between them).

Edit: Ohh, you mean the gridlines. Untoggle the small "landscape"-icon (Game Overlay) next to the icon of a sun on the menu at the top of your scene window, and those should appear.

Doesn't seem to do anything. I have a scene that only has a sphere in it. I select that and use the keys you specify. I see the controls for move/rot/scale but still no axis. All the screen shots I see have a dark gray background and thin light gray lines for the axes. I don't see the thin light gray lines at all.

Updated my answer - you're looking for the option that toggles off skybox, fog and lense flare effects, which also toggles on the gridlines.

Thanks Xoduz! That did it!
