Created a metallic map by black/whiting an albedo map, makes entire object metallic
I'm not very well versed with graphics, but I need some 3d models for a project I'm doing and I can make passable stuff. The program I'm using gives me the model and a texture. I'm pretty sure the texture is meant only to be the base colors of the object. I set to the albedo map in unity and that gives it it's color. However, some parts of the objects are metal, so I took the albedo map, duplicated it, and changed all the metal colors to white and all the other colors to black (which I realize isn't quite how it's supposed to be done). This caused the material to become metallic, but the entire object became metallic, instead of just the metal parts. From what I can understand from the internet, the texture I have should either be a diffuse or base color map and that the albedo map carries some reflection data with it, in which case, how would I modify the albedo map/metallic map to remove that reflection data and get the desired metal/not metal effect?
