Disable/Unapply Root Motion in Unity Editor (has option vanished since Unity2018b?)
Hi all,
I've been away from game development since about Christmas last year. I started up now making a new game and its coming on pretty well so far.
However, I've gone to add several new animations to my models, and I want to remove any root motion from the Run animation (so that I can control the running movement myself). There used to be an option in the Animator window, when you click the element you want to adjust, it would have "apply root motion" checkbox in inspector.
I've looked everywhere and I can't find it now. Can anybody help me to disable root motion for a particular mocap sequence?
thanks
Pretty sure this option is on the Animation Controller attached to the animated object. As it is not animation specific, it is a global setting for the animation controller.
THAN$$anonymous$$ YOU $$anonymous$$AN!!! I was looking everywhere I knew it had existed. It was in the Inspector under the Animator Component, right under where i input the Animation Controller, and the Avatar I want to animate. Should be able to make some real progress today now thanks again !!
Sadly, this fact is meaning I will now have to code the movement of when he dies also. Before the death animation just took care of that but now he appears to die in mid-air. Still I should be able to code something to make it look acceptable. ...any idea if there is a way to set the 'Apply Root $$anonymous$$otion' per clip?
Well I assume you're disabling the ability for the entity to move when it dies, not reason you can't switch root motion back on at the moment of death.
