Question by Hedonsoft · Feb 11, 2016 at 12:40 AM · assetprefabsmanagement

Is there a way or an asset for managing assets that make up a prefab?

I have several assets, for example gun effects. I use particle FX from one pack, audio from another, models from another etc etc. and when I build the prefabs the required assets are in different places and the project structure becomes messy. Is there a way to keep everything in one place?

Yes. Build them into a prefab :) its not what you want to hear but thats what its doing. Imagine trawling through everything each time!

I know what you are asking, dont worry, its just structuring your project by separating parts can actually become far more messy. It appears messy as you use it but with a large project its more important to catalogue than to bundle assets. Like things should stay together else their connection becomes tenuous. That said, if you can separate assets theres nothing to stop you bundling it in one folder except it could get hairy should you choose to reuse in a different prefab. Really what you want is the ability to right click the prefab and have it locate all its parts for you.

Um... It's not keeping them in one place, but you can select prefab and then "Assets"->"Select Dependencies" from top editor toolbar to see all dependencies.
