How to make changes to FBX without breaking Prefabs?
Title says it all. Constantly, when I make changes to a mesh (either changing the shape, tweaking UVs, or altering an animation) it breaks scripts within prefabs referencing the object. Is there a way to safely make updates to an assets animation or other attributes without damaging the Prefab in Unity? I am working IN Maya 2018, and have tried the "FBX Exporter" tool. The only issue with that is it exports out a prefabs and thus has no animation data. I ideally would like to make an update in Maya and then seamlessly transition to Unity to see the update reflected in all instances of a prefab without anything breaking. After several days on pouring through stuff online, I would appreciate any help you can offer.

Seems I remember a asset that performed this update to prefabs, though I questioned if updating a rigged/animated character would work with it. I can't remember the name - but I'm sure there is a pack in the store that does what your looking for.
