exporting animation files and out of unity
Hi,
I was wondering if there is any way to export a usable animation file out of unity in order to edit it further within a 3d modelling application, for example maya?
At the moment when I open a newly created .anim file in unity and bring that into maya, maya does not understand it at all.
Is anyone able to help with this at all?
You'd need to drill down into the AnimationClip
and export the data in a format that $$anonymous$$aya understands.
How would I do that?
Is there anywhere that I could learn how to do this or any kind of documentation anywhere for this.

Hi - this is not supported, as Unity is not like a 3D package with export functionality - it is more of a development environment, so a .anim file is simply keyframe data that Unity understands, rather than an interchangeable format.
Currently there is not a two way animation asset pipeline for the main reason that Unity is the master application for gathering and building your assets. If you wish to edit animations created in Unity they need to be edited in Unity at this stage.
Don't forget - please add or vote for feature requests like this here:
