Whats wrong
I try to download unity 3d but windows 7 completely shuts down and restarts why is that ?
If you are downloading the Unity installer and your machine shuts down, then it is extremely unlikely that the problem is to do with Unity. I'd recommend that you take your machine to a service centre and have them look over it. Alternatively, download the editor from another machine and copy it to your computer on a usb memory stick.

This Happens with some users. It happened to me to. I've tried reinstalling unity, reinstalling windows itself, even downgrading. There's no fix to it as of now but hopefully it will be fixed. I had to switch to my mac, of course not everyone has a mac lying around. Its probably a bug that has to do with hardware more than software. You should contact the Unity admins and report it.
