How to Achieve Better Melee Combat?
Hi Everyone,
Sorry for the vague question, but essentially I would like to achieve combat similar to final fantasy and many other action combat systems.
**I have my mecanim character which has a bunch of attack animations (root motion), problem is when i start to attack an enemy, and the enemy for example is moving around/ strafing, my attacks go straight past the enemy/ i walk into him and past him (this is all while im locked onto the enemy).
How could i make it that i dont rotate around the enemy/ attack straight through him, but rather, im at a fixed angle when locked on, and when i get to close, its like im attacking an invisible wall (when i stop attacking i can run through this wall though). i mean i could put a big collider in the way and toggle it when im locked on. but im not sure the best way to do this.**
ive been watching a lot of gameplay combat, and i really feel finaly fantasy hits the nail on the head on the combat feel. (uses root motion attacks, but when enemy is moving, your attacks are absolutely always facing and spaced correctly. obviously im not expecting AAA quality, but it doesnt hurt to try)
Any advice or assistance is appreciated.
