Question by Dmsotir · Jan 22, 2016 at 08:17 AM · particlesystemparticle system

Weird Particle System bug.

I have a particle system in my game, and I cant get it to play during run-time unless the emission rate is 61 or above. I want the emission rate to be small for this one but it will not play. The only other way I can get it to play is if i have it as "Play on Awake" but I need it to only be called at certain times. Anyone know how to fix this issue?

  • Just to add, the game particles work fine in the Scene view, and its not a code based issue as ive tested with different particle systems of higher emission rate and have narrowed it down to 61 or higher being the magic number.

I have found a temporary solution that works. If I start the particle system with "Play On Awake" And call .Stop in the OnEnable function, it allows me to call .Play when I need it. Id prefer a different fix though.

I haven't found an answer but wanted to say I am getting a similar issue. I definitely don't need a huge number like 61. 16 is what I was needing and that large of a number is too much. I was able to reproduce The issues of it looking fine in the editor but will not play in gameplay without that large of a number for the emission rate.
