Question is off-topic or not relevant
So...what about linux?
Has unity3d completely forgotten about developers using linux? I mean, this is completely crazy. Most designers like myself, and programmers especially are avoiding mac and windows like the black plague, and with certain security/privacy trends lately, there are allot more avarage users to join. Why isn't unity providing a stable linux release for all of us? Please let us forget about other os's completely! Is the software written in a non-cross platform language I do not know of, that will not allow for a simple transition. This should have been done YEARS ago especially with a product this important to the future.
I know it runs on wine, but limits galore. Wine should be an end-user emergency escape route, not an excuse for developers to alienate such a large and essential part of computer users.
So I ask, what about linux?
a.) This is not a technical question and is unsuitable for UA. If you want to join one of the existing discussions, head over to the forums.
b.) "most designers and programmers especially are avoiding mac and windows..." Do you have any objective data to support that rather outlandish claim...?!
a.) I don't $$anonymous$$d starting new discussions, and I believe this is quite a legitimate concern. b.) I have my relative data to keep me motivated on discussing, and concrete user-data on open-source software is hard to gather and usually far from what is actually happening (concrete user-data usually manifests like this). That said, there are computer Evangelists like myself converting people towards the greater open-source good and its working. Its mentality like yours that keep it from flourishing.
Is it so much to ask to throw a week of work and satisfy the more computerficient of users.

tanoshimi is correct. The question you pose is definitely worthy of discussion, but it simply isn't suitable for a Q&A board.
An objective data? Well, OpenGL is much better than Directx is. And Linux is better in 3D rendering. I have over 10 years experience in IT, and I'm sure Linux is used by 20-30% people in the world, not 2-5%. As soon as Unity3D Editor for Linux appears, there will be at least 50%. Unity, you ignore these people, your clients.
