Lag when i have too many objets
Hi guys!
I'm currently working on a Minecraft like clone, just to learn a bit of unity until i get my own great idea! the only problem i got is that when i have spawned 5000 blocks the spawnrate goes severly down. I have a function creating 50 at the time with a yield; at the end (thanks to this great forum). Not only does the spawntime go down (something i could live with) but when its done with 10-20k,, i still get lag.
So i got a few questions regarding this:
Is there anything else then PrimitiveType.Cube i could use that is better on performance?? (as an as3 user i solved a lot by using spirites instead of movieclip)
Why is it that Minecraft (running java as far as i know) seems to have better performance then unity? ( I know its probably me doing something wrong, so you can ignore this if you have any ways to fix it)
