Texture overlay in sphere?
Hello, Im having an issue finding out how i would acchive this kind of effect from Natual Selection 2

I'm not looking for the moving "boils" as of the moment, I'm looking more for just the texture replacement / overlay. Would this be something i would do in a shader, i'm guessing so where another problem arises. I have no experience with shaders.
I know that i'm hoping to do it inside a sphere collider or using overlap Sphere, So i can also detect a player or NPC in the region as well.
I apologise if this isn't too clear, i'm not great at explanations. Ask if you have any other questions.
It would be great if you could point me in some kind of direction here!
