Asset Bundle vs Texture
Hi folks,
The game I'm working on requires that I download icons for many, many items that can be purchased in the game's market. These icons are roughly 128x128, and do NOT get saved locally on the client side. When the player opens the market, we download any relevant icons (based on category).
My question is...should I be downloading these icons as Asset Bundles, or is it more efficient to have them stored on the server as textures. If I go the Asset Bundle route, do we need to make 1 for iOS and 1 for Android?
Oh, one more quick facet...these icons will need to be applied as Sprites to a Unity UI image component. I think the only way to convert a texture to a sprite, at runtime, is to use the Sprite.Create() function (which is fine I believe).
Thanks for the help in advance, -Matt
