2017.3.0f3 fails to compile UWP with UnityEditor.Scripting.ScriptCompilation.EditorCompilation.m__8[CSharpLanguage]

I'm trying to compile my project to UWP in Unity 2017.3.0f3. Project works fine in editor, but when trying to compile a build, I get the following error:

I've installed all the tools mentioned on the Microsoft "Install the tools" page for Mixed reality ( https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/install_the_tools ), but I can't figure out what is missing. The first line includes the word "CSharpLanguage" so I make that it has something to do with the CSharp, compiler perhaps...?

What does this mean, am I missing some package in VS 2017? If yes, which one? Or is this because of something else?

Is there any solution for this issue?

This seems to be a bug, but the cause seems to be assembly references (.asmref-files I guess). I had something in my project that brought these into it and then the compilation didn't work. To fix this, I had to remove the assets that used assembly reference files (in my case, it was post production profile v2 which is in beta phase).

But this seems to be a bug and I hope it will be fixed soon!

We have similar problem with compilation for WSA\UWP. We are using Assembly Definition files (.asmdef) and have same compilation errors. Please assist.

A fix is mentioned in the 2018 beta change log, try to update if that would help.
