First Person tilt Camera Control acting wierd

Hi I made a scene in unity intended for mobile android devices. I'm using the prefab "First Person Tilt Controls" and testing the scene on my moto x and unity remote controller. I would like to be able to hold the phone, screen facing me and tilt it to move the camera as if i were holding a window into the scene. I've edited the scene so that on mobile, it is locked to a horizontal/widescreen configuration. The prefab would seem to be what i'm looking for except that the camera controls seems to me messed up. First of all, the camera will only stay still when the phone is completely flat on a table. The camera will turn to the right when i tilt the phone towards me, and left when tilted away from me. Lifting the right side of the phone so it faces my left makes the camera tilt upwards, and tilting the left side makes the camera look down. Is there a way to change the prefab so that A. The "resting state" is when the screen of the phone is facing me and B. If i can change the tilt controls to mimic the phone movements(like the google spotlight movies), and also find a way that the tilt controls will work with the new "facing user" orientation.
