Help needed to send message to unity from non unity android activity

I am working on an Unity Plugin for Android where I am sending notifications ( messages using UnityPlayer.UnitySendMessage ) to Unity from UnityPlayerActivity which works as expected.

-My UnityPlayerActivity opens a custom activity, I need to send couple of messages to Unity while it is open.

I am not able to send message using UnityPlayer.UnitySendMessage() from custom activity.
I see that all the messages are queue up and sent once Custom Activity is closed

Is there a way I can send messages from my custom activity (non unity Android Activity) to Unity.
