Character movement when I switch cameras.
Hello.
I've managed to get a camera switch script going on with some help here, I understand now how to make a trigger that will activate a camera so the player sees, for example, the back of a house better.
To clarify I uploaded a scene of my game:
http://loosepixel.com/adventure/
What you'll notice is I'm trying to make a game like resident evil, or maybe like some final fantasy titles where the camera is static, and upon reaching a certain area the camera will change to let the player see where he is going.
I don't know what to call this type of "camera", or controller... I know there's Third person view and First person view... this however I can only classify as "Classic view" or something like that...
So... you might have noticed, once the character steps into the pink area, the camera changes, and therein lies a big problem, now the camera is pointing at the player from a different direction, and lo and behold... I never accounted to this, but it makes sense... the controls are "inverted", because the camera itself is looking at the player "backwards"...
I've been toying with the control script a little bit here and there but I either break something or just get nothing done.
For further clarification, I'm using these settings on my Character object:
Notice that I only disabled the Third Person Camera, that being because I didn't want the out-of-the-box camera for my character.
My initial idea was... Ok... the camera is inverted, so... let me just invert the controls when the player goes in that area... I didn't put that idea to practice because it just sounds too confusing when I get hundreds of cameras in varying positions... I mean, for this camera alone that might work, but at some point I might want my camera in a totally different angle which would not work at all even if I simply inverted the controls.
I saw ORK Okashi RPG Kit, I can't afford that... however I'm drooling at their first demo here: http://rpg-kit.com/webplayer.html
Their character moves EXACTLY like I'd expect mine to move too, but I get the impression their camera is never "inverted", it keeps showing the player from more or less the same angle, never does the camera change the angle to something like the absolute opposite...
If anyone can shed some light on this, I'd very much appreciate it. I can't find a proper tutorial about it, I can't even search for this properly because I get so many results that just don't seem to help :(
Thank you!
Added info:
I tried changing the function UpdateSmoothed$$anonymous$$ovementDirection on ThirdPersonController.js:
From "var cameraTransform = Camera.main.transform;" To "var cameraTransform = Camera.current.transform;"
This works somehow... but when I colide with my trigger, the character gets all jittery and weird like its trying to pass through a force field or something that's pushing him back and I also get these errors:
"NullReferenceException ThirdPersonController.UpdateSmoothed$$anonymous$$ovementDirection () (at Assets/Standard Assets/Character Controllers/Sources/Scripts/ThirdPersonController.js:135) ThirdPersonController.Update () (at Assets/Standard Assets/Character Controllers/Sources/Scripts/ThirdPersonController.js:311) "
Both my cameras are tagged as "$$anonymous$$ainCamera"
