Steam VR hands hit an invisible wall

I don't really understand what's happening. As shown in the following video and screenshot the steam VR hand isn't going past a single point out the front but will go in any other direction. I have tried a lot of different steam VR hands and the problem arises with everything. Any more screenshots or videos can be provided. Sorry the file is an mkv alt text Any idea or solution would be greatly appreciated.
