How to set up weapon animations? Blender/Unity
I need some pointers to help me get a weapon system. I'm able to make the models, rig, animation, scripts, etc, but I'm not sure how the weapon animations should be be set up.
I'm assuming the weapons should be imported into unity as their own game objects, for weapon switching and such.
But I'm not sure where the animations would be set up.
Would I create a fire animation on each weapon (like the slider going back and forth on a handgun), and a separate "aim" animation (how the player holds the gun; ie, one hand for a handgun/two for a rifle) on the person, and make the hand a parent of the weapon?
Or would it be one animation on the player, from the way the player holds the weapon to the movement of the gun?
I'm also planning on having different weapons of each type, like different types of rifles, that would most likely be held in a similar way, which I plan to achieve by using animation masks.
Any help would be appreciated. The game I'm using the animations for is a FPS shooter type game.
