Massive Unity Corruption By Shutting Down PC?!
My touchpad stopped working over lunch, so I saved my work in Unity and MonoDevelop using the keyboard, and powered down my laptop by holding the power key. Turned it back on at home.
Unity 5.4 came up with an error about being unable to load some window config file, somehow related to the fact that there were compile errors where I left off. I said to load the default. Brought up my project, which loaded extremely slowly, with a progress bar for every little graphics file. Then I got a corrupted version of my title-screen scene with the text existing but misplaced, and I couldn't load my "Tavern" scene at all ("Unknown error occurred" when trying to load), and when I opened my related file "TavernManager.cs" in Mono... it was blank! 28 KB, listed as modified while I was at lunch, and in Mono it's blank. In Notepad++ it shows up as a mass of "NUL" characters.
Is Unity telling me that closing the program and Mono normally, then shutting down the PC forcibly, messes up my project so badly that it corrupted a code file I saved and closed and ruined at least one entire scene? What's going on?
