Scaling unity apps
How do I scale apps in accordance to the scaling cube or similar?
I think Kubernetes could be a solution but I'm afraid I did not fully understand it.
I need it to handle 100k monthly users and a peak of 2k users using the app simultaneously.
Are there any tools, tricks or something else that can aid in scaling unity applications? It's not a game. It's a somewhat simple architecture of a mobile app., where users can login and see all kinds of data and write to DB.

There are plenty of solid Backend as a Service platforms out there, some of which are game-specific and some of which work for pretty much any kind of app. Most of them handle scaling automatically. So, you just upload your code, pick the right billing plan, and they (supposedly) handle the rest for you.
Well that sounds rather lovely.
$$anonymous$$ine is not a game, so I would probably choose the one one for "any kind of app". Do you happen to know what it's called? I haven't had any luck with the search engines.
Also, what about the theory behind it? As in how it's scaled? I need it for an assignment, so I need to understand how it's done :) ... I'm not expecting you to tell me (obviously) but is it possible to read about it somewhere?
There are too many to make a recommendation and I don't have a personal experience with any of those kind anyway. I can almost guarantee that a recommendation I make would not be right for you. I'll give you the names as a starting point, only.
Braincloud and app42 seem like decent options from what I'm reading. App42 seems quite general as a platform but, of course, their Unity libraries have some game-related features (as one would expect). You don't have to use that stuff, though. Everybody offers what you're looking for. I use GameSparks, which also has the features you want (plus a lot of game-related stuff). I would just search for "mobile app backend as a service" or "mobile app baas" and start there. The advertisements that come up when searching for the three I gave you would probably work just as well.
Even Azure, AWS and Google Cloud all claim to have a BaaS solution, now. If they are rich enough and inexpensive enough, I'd be willing to make the switch, myself.
Lovely! That was a great reply. Thanks a lot, $$anonymous$$ax ! :)
