Can I render billboards in forward render?
I need quads to face the camera.
Unfortunately, I'm running into the exact problem mentioned here: http://answers.unity3d.com/questions/1404471/billboard-shader-works-in-scene-view-but-not-game.html
I really want to stay in forward render, but all of the billboard shaders I've tried are clipping out in game view.
I tried making my own. I tried this shader pack: https://grimmreapergames.jimdo.com/2014/02/09/billboard-shader-pack/ Still random quads disappearing in game view.
Why is this? Are there any workarounds? I'm going to have like a million billboards in my game. Need it to run fast!
Thanks.

So after testing a while, I found shaders that were written properly that do it. Whatever it was that was wrong, I still don't know, but shaderforge didn't give me much for options. Someone should write a proper simple shader and put it on the asset store. The ones I got were from a billboard baking tool and I really could do away with all the extra nonsense. I just want a simple properly written billboard shader and no one seems to have one. :(
