Unity crashed; saved project deleted??
I saved the game a million times throughout, and then when i went to build, suddenly everything crashed? I lost everything. It says there's no projects at all. I can't open the original file anymore. I suppose it's gone forever, and i really want to cry..! I spent hours on this! What could have possibly gone so wrong? it saved a sln file on my mac despite me choosing mac, and i can't open it at all. Why is the original editting project gone too?
Same happened to me mate , Ill always back up anything I do from now on.
You could tell me more about it. Does it just not exist? Does it say it has been already opened? Is the scene unchanged?
If it does not exist, then... well.... bad. It happened to me once, but this wants me to question which unity version you are running.
If it says the project had already been open, go to your project, open temp folder and search for the levels (scenes). As far as I remember they will not have .unity extension there. Then, copy those somewhere and delete UnityLockFile.
If the scene is not in the latest state try the same as above, but without deleting the lock file.
It is a good idea to use version control system like git with your project and have the backup repository somewhere like on BitBucket.
Hi @AurimasBlazulionis, it just wipes out the scene when I hit build and builds an empty project. When I reopen everything is there. I have made a new project with just a cube and it does the same. It must be something with unity and not the project. The problem is I can not build anything because it will only build an empty project. It gives no errors it is just while compiling it wipes out the project? It really makes no sense. I am on version 5.6.3p2
I actually fixed this by updating my Android SD$$anonymous$$. Cheers.
