Question by grimmy · Mar 07, 2013 at 08:49 AM · compilerassemblyassemblies

ApplicationException: Unable to find a suitable compiler?

My application contains compiled assemblies. Does this error mean there is some issue with the code before it was compiled into an assembly? If so, any ideas what could cause this as the original code (before being compiled) runs fine.

I'm thinking that the problem might be with some scripts trying to add components to gameobjects when those components are actually now compiled assemblies.

Or is there a more obvious answer.

Any help gratefully received.

Thanks!

wait are you saying it's pre-compiled. This is a wild guess but bascailly i'm betting you need to SO$$anonymous$$EHOW mark it as precompiled. It sounds like the program thinks it is not yet compiled and is trying to compile it. You need to mark as compiled so it processes as pre compiled assembly and not umcompiled non assembly (my guess is the file extension for the code isn't recognized since its not a known file extension for java or C# or anything since it's not those. it's compiled already code.

Yes, its pre compiled. Oddly all editor scripts work fine and I have done this before in a much smaller demo app in which it all worked fine. I can only think that there is some functionality that non (pre) compliled code can do differently to normal scripts. ..ie..adding components at runtime...maybe?

Hmm, I just tried removing any 'AddComponent' code that is embedded in the assemblies but the error still remains.
