Unity crashing after a few minutes

Hello,

I recently reformatted my computer so I have a fresh install of Windows 7 Home Premium with all up to date drivers installed. I installed the newest version of Unity. Everything works correctly, however, after having Unity open for a few minutes the editor will crash.

It doesn't seem to make a difference if I'm doing anything, or just letting it run idle, it'll crash ~5 minutes every time.

PC Specs: Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit Intel i5 3570k CPU AMD Radeon 7950 (Using newest Crimson Drivers)

I've tried to uninstall/reinstall Unity. Running program as Admin. I have the editor logs if those would be any help. I'm just not sure what else to try. I used to use Unity without any issues, granted it's been 6 months and before I reformatted.

Thanks for any help, and let me know if there is anything else I need to provide please!

I'm having exactly the same problem. After not using unity for a long time I updated to 5.3 and it started crashing 5 $$anonymous$$utes after startup with no apparent reason. I figured the update went south and I uninstalled unity completely (The web player is also bugged BTW, took me ad$$anonymous$$ rigths in safe mode to get it uninstalled..) and then Downloaded the latest build. All going great, I left Unity to idle a few $$anonymous$$utes and surely, it crashed.

I still haven't been able to fix this. It seems to be anywhere from 5-10 $$anonymous$$utes and it will crash. I've tried reinstalling Unity, my graphics drivers, ran it as ad$$anonymous$$, and nothing seems to make a difference. It will still crash if I leave Unity as the active window but don't touch my computer. I have my computer set to never sleep my monitors or go to screen saver. Would love any more ideas someone could come up with as it's very irritating.

One thing that seems to have worked for me is to add both the installation path of unity and the project path to exception list in windows defender.

Hasn't crashed for a couple of hours.
