Thumbnails(Previews) of imported normal maps looks black
I've tried to import multiple normal map textures and converted their texture type to Normal map . It works fine . and it looks okay when I changed the type one by one . But when I just changed all at once, the thumbnail of normal map just looks black like below (even if it still works fine.) Could you tell me why this happened and how to solve???
(ADD) when I changed the option of project view from two column layout to one column , it looks totally fine . Is it like a bug ???

I have same problem and also looking for a solution. My water waves disappear after upgrade from 5.6 to 2017.1, beacuse texture is turn clean black. I checked newest 2017.3 and problem still exist there. Only return to old version ( 5.6 in my case) solving this problem.

Same here - 2017.1.2f1. Normal maps appear to be working, but the thumbnails are black, or bizarrely the thumbnail of another texture. Reimporting any given normal map will resurrect the thumbnail, but if I leave that folder then return, the thumbnails are corrupt again.

Also have this issue. It's not causing any problems so far but maybe something will happen later, so i like it to be fixed.
I figured out that it happened when i changed the texture max size from 2k (here it was purple) to 4k (here they become black).
Another thing that i'm using is Substance live-link, maybe it has something to do with it.
