How to make particles visible when they collide with a surface?
Hi all, I am making a rocket which has a particle system for jet exhaust, I want to make particles visible on contact with the surface, I want to create that jet blowing effect when the exhaust is close to the ground. I've messed around with collision detection in the particle system and I know how to make them visible on contact with the surface. The thing is I want to make particles visible close to the rocket(of course) then they are invisible but when they touch the ground they become slightly visible again. In color gradient over lifetime i can set alpha to 0, in collision detection I see "Lifetime Loss" which would probably do the thing I want if I could set it to a value less then zero, but Unity won't let me do that. Do you have any suggestions?
TL:DR How to make rocket exhaust particle system which is visible below the rocket, at some point it's invisible, but if those invisible particles make contact with the surface they become visible?
Cheers :)
