Question by ATMEthan · Mar 14, 2013 at 09:56 PM · particlesvelocityparticlesystemslow down

Particle Velocity Decay/Slow Down?

Is it possible to have the particle's velocity decay over time? Either in the legacy particle system or the shuriken system?

I have a legacy and shuriken particle system resembling fireworks / explosion. We want the particles to slow down as they reach the end of their life time but which ever way I mess with the particles and the settings I can never achieve that affect.

This is my last resort. I've fiddled with the settings for about two hours now and I have searched the web with no conclusive results. :( Can anyone help me?

Thank you for your time.

The Velocity Over Lifetime setting in the Shuriken system. You have a little drop down menu next to the X, Y and Z setting that's on Constant. You can change it to Curve and use the curve to slow it down over time.

happy days!!! thank you very much. Although I used "limit velocity over lifetime" ins$$anonymous$$d of "velocity over lifetime." But that's not the important part, the important part is the ability to change from constant to curves. I feel like a noob b/c looking back at the documentation the answer was there... I just didn't see it. Thank you once again!

Sorry, I thought up voting it was the same as accepting the answer.

I'm sorry, but I don't get how to edit that curve. Could you help me?

At the bottom of the Inspector, Click on "Particle System Curves" and drag it up to edit the curves
