Top Down Game - Camera Follow Player and General Scripting Question

First off, thanks for reading this! I know that there are a ton of this type of question, but because of the changes to Unity 5, many of those old posts don't help me. I use Javascript (learned a lot from codecademy) I have tried looked through the vast unity scripting manual and still don't understand how to piece together a bunch of this script, or where certain scripts are coming from. I'm looking for javascript code that in a top-down game, (rpg style) the camera will follow the main character. If someone wants to write one for me, and explain where they got that info from it would be very helpful so i can learn too! :) I have been trying and watching tutorials for days trying to understand the unity framework. Any advice for leaning this stuff? Thanks again.

Sum of questions..

  • Camera follow script in Javascript for top down game

  • How did you learn, or whats a good way of getting good at scripting in unity.

Thanks again so much. Please dont send me a link to something in unity 4, because again, I've tried a ton of those and they are all mostly legacy scripts that don't work with unity 5. (or i get errors)
