I just downloaded unity and it doesn't open

I recently downloaded unity (5.6.3p1) because that is the only version right now that lets you make custom vrchat characters. Anyways, when I finished installing it and opened it it only said connecting and wouldn't load in the sign in page. I just wan't to get a custom character and whenever i try to do things like they never work, so i would appreciate it if someone would tell me a fix. Thanks
