I haven't heard that term either... can you post the link where you heard it?

The ccu limit is the concurrent user limit. The presonal edition has a limit of 20, Unity plus has a limit of 50 and Unity pro has a limit of 200. However as i said in my answer this does only account for the capacities that are included in your Unity license. When you go live there will be no limit but you have to pay for the traffic your game produces.

Everybody is used to flat-rates nowadays. However in the "real" world (the professional world) internet traffic is always paid by traffic. Your ISP also has to pay for every "byte" of traffic that you generate. However they rely on the fact that the majority of the users will only use a tiny fraction of the offered potential. Pretty much the same way an insurance works.

Yep, makes sense. Just hadn't heard that acronym before. Learn something new every day! Thanks for the great description.

I think you misunderstood something about Unity's multiplayer services. The ccu limit is the limit for development. It's bound to your Unity license. You usually "go live" when you release your game. That means there's no ccu limit but you have to pay for the traffic your game creates.

Read this page, especially "Ready to release your game?"

The concurrent player limits 20 / 50 / 200 only apply to your development license. They are ment for alpha and beta testing. Of course if your game doesn't sell well you may just stick with what is included in your license. However if the user base grows you want to go live with your game.

hello. does that mean, when I launch my online multiplayer game on the major appstores, even a 1000 players get to play online at the same time? I can pay for the bandwidth used. I am just confused about the ccu limits... even after reading the link you posted. sorry, noobie here
