How to define which Android API level should I target for Minimum and Target?
Hi,
I've searched for this extensively but cannot find the answer. I'm going to build my game for Android and have an old SDK. Not sure which one should I update from the newer ones.
How should I know which minimum API level should I choose when I'm not writing and custom native code or API calls, what about the target API level?
Thanks.

I'm probably not the best resource for Android Dev but i have done a little before. From what I remember (and anyone can correct me if I'm wrong) but you don't want to design around the max API level because you'll miss a large number of users. You want to develop for a few versions lower so it'll work on 90%+ of the android users out there and all newer versions of the API should (to some extent) be able to use a lower level.
From the Android devsite: "You should avoid using android:maxSdkVersion in general, because as long as you've properly developed your application with public APIs, it is always compatible with future versions of Android. "
Here are some links to with more info: https://developer.android.com/google/play/publishing/multiple-apks https://developer.android.com/training/basics/supporting-devices/platforms https://developer.android.com/guide/practices/compatibility#Version
Hope this helps!
Thanks. Question is how to deter$$anonymous$$e the $$anonymous$$ API level.
sorry my fault - not entirely sure on that.
