How to make handbrake turn or powerslide with wheel colliders?
Hello, I can't see how wheel colliders could provide throttle controlled powerslides or handbrake turns/drifts because forward and sideways slips are separate values and so when we engage handbrake or dramatically increase throttle (on RWD car) in order to make rear tires slip, it will not affect rear tires sideways slip and therefore grip (exerted power) on sideways friction curve will not change. Thanks in advance for any advice :)
I don't think that's possible at all. Or at least not possible in an intended way, but maybe by playing trial & error with the WheelCollider parameters.
@Edy Thanks for answer :) Just to make things clear, by "not possible in intended way" you mean to do it with unity wheel collider or not possible also in reality? If its the first case then that is pretty serious design problem of wheel collider at least for racing games...I will probably end up buying your vehicle physics asset :D
No possible to do it with Unity WheelCollider! :) It's perfectly possible in reality, I've practiced drifting myself. Thank you! A free version of the Professional edition (search the Asset Store for Vehicle Physics Pro) is also available.
