"cover" a Trigger2D using a sprite

In my 2D game i have some big trigger areas. Is it possible to cover them with some smaller sprites, in a way that when my 2D caracter is totaly inside one of these sprites the trigger doesn`t activate? I can`t use distances between the character and the bounds of sprites, because they have irregular shapes.
