How does Unity handle users not meeting the minimum system requirements (DX9 mainly) ?
Hi everybody,
unfortunately I don't have a pc that old, nor do I know anybody that does. But the requirements for releasing a game on Big Fish include the following:
"GRACEFUL HANDLING OF OLDER HARDWARE – A large number of our customers have old hardware that cannot support DirectX9 Direct 3d (D3D) graphic components (Pixel Shader 1+). It is preferred that games function on pre-Pixel Shader 1 graphics cards without issue. If this is not possible, the game must display appropriate error messages when the user’s hardware is not capable of running the game"
Does anybody know if Unity already "gracefully" handles players having less than DX9 ? What does actually happen in that case? If there is no "appropriate error message", do you perhaps have an idea how I could check DX9-support of the users hardware?
Hi,
I am in same boat as you. Do you find any solution?
