I need some advice about Prefabs and Animations.
Hi guys,
My first unity project. I wanted to make something based on a few past projects on different platforms.
My game is a really basic and easy to complete as the player "adventure" where you just need to collect 3 items: the axe (to get past the trees), the raft (to pass the water) and the treasure to complete the game. No foes or anything, just a nice simple starter project.
Anyway..
I have been trying to animate the man. I have watched a few tutorials and whatnot. Because I'm using 4 different sets of body parts (I have drawn a bit of lighting on each piece), I have 4 prefabs each with their 4 unique body part sprites and 2 animations each, one for standing one for walking.
The problem is I'm starting to think I've done it wrong. I can't figure out how to do the Animation Controllers. In my head, I thought the next step was just to drag all the animations into one animation controller that the player game object has, but I get 'missing' (I thought that the sprites and everything were linked and this was the way to go)
What would be the best way to go about fixing it? I don't particularly want to add/remove the prefabs to the player game object as child with code depending on where he's moving if I can help it. I'd like to be able to get the animation working properly.
