Question about slideScrolling Voxels

Iam learning to code, but I wanted to know whats the best way i could use to randomly generate voxels in a 2d sidescrolling platform, not 3d as minecraft, by voxels i mean 3d cubes and not squares ! I like to know where to go as I learn ! Thanks everyone
