What options do we have for making 508 compliant applications?
Hello, I am looking for information on text to speech and speech to text. A project I am working on wantsome to be 508 compliant. The website is easy to make 508 compliant with some Web plug-ins but there doesn't seem to be many unity solutions for 508 compliance.
Here is a link to the basicserver of 508 compliance. https://www.section508.gov
Any leads or personal experiences would be appreciated.
Thanks
I have no experience of section 508 (looks to be an American thing), but I don't see what it has to do with Unity? It appears to relate to federal agencies providing information in an accessible way - not to do with making games accessible. Unity is a game engine, and while there is certainly some awareness of accessibility issues in some games (e.g. providing high contrast mode, subtitles in cutscenes etc.), many parts of modern games simply cannot be adapted - they very thing that constitutes their gameplay requires manual dexterity (e.g. any FPS/platformer), observation skills (e.g. any adventure game), or require bespoke control systems (e.g. $$anonymous$$inect/Wii).
Ai$$anonymous$$g for accessibility is certainly admirable, and should be encouraged where possible. With regards to technical solutions to your problem, is this dynamic text to speech of user input? What is your target platform? Can it be performed at the OS level?
