Internet Explorer not detecting Web Player install in Vista?
We've noticed a strange situation with some users:
they install Unity Webplayer as part of registration process for our web game, but the browser doesn't detect the installation successfully completing as it should.
We can't reproduce it, but seems the only common scenario is that they have Vista and Internet Explorer
Anyone else seen similar?
it happening on W7 makes sense, the difference with vista is $$anonymous$$imal
Oh did you check versions of IE ? $$anonymous$$aybe there's some kind of interest there aswell

I just downloaded unity Player for IE 8.0.6001.18904 for vista and no problem. I use chrome and safari usually. You need more data about their OS and browser.
@flashtech, I just deleted the unity player, I went to game list and for the first unity game I found (star wars) it asked me to install the web player. Then I pressed run two times in the dialogue box. And it started playing without the need of a restart or anything weird.(it took less than 10 secs) I also got a message from Norton firewall that unity is safe. when you build for the web the html produced has the link of where to download.

Check if the system has UAC enabled and the browser is running in the protected mode. From what I recall that can have a negative impact as that mode kills quite a bit of "outer world interaction" it considers "not as save as I want it to be"
Wouldn't user account control throw pop-ups like always in that scenario?
