CS0108 warning in the editor but not during build time and vice-versa? Which is it?
I get that I need to put the new
keyword in front of the variable and why. The thing is, I only get this warning in the editor but no complaints during build time. However, if I do put the keyword in, the editor won't complain but the compiler will.
What's going on? Is there a fix?

Please post your code so we can take a look. It's hard to find what's wrong without the code.
There's no code to analyze, I'm just using "renderer", "camera" as variable names and Unity is complaining that these names are hiding inherited members that aren't even in use anymore. I'm using Unity 2020.1.5f, if that helps.
