How to make the AIThirdPersonController in Unity Standard Assets go to a target point
I am using Unity Standard Assets to make a very simple movement to one point in the map. But when I hit play, the character is not moving.
Here is my setup: basically I changed nothing except for adding the waypoint to Target field in the inspector under AI Character Control Script.

Can it be the Navmesh? I am new to Unity and I am not sure what that means.

In the AI Character Control set the target to a game object. That will make the agent walk to the target. If the target is moving, then it will follow the target.
Make sure you have baked a NavMesh into the ground floor.
Open Navigation window, in the Heirarchy select your ground, In the object tab of the navigation window check Navigation Static. Goto the Bake tab, and press Bake, then you should see a blue plane over ground. Thats the NavMesh.
