Create background service from Android Plugin

Hi all,

I am wanting to create a service that runs in the background that monitors/detects steps even when the Unity app is not running. I am able to create what I want as an Android app, but I am really struggling to work out how to get it to work from Unity through a plugin? I have tried so many things and just cannot grasp how to get it to work.

Any help would be much appreciated.
