Using MIDI input in a Unity game
Hi, I am planning to make a game using MIDI input (musical keyboard) for my Extended Project Qualification this year at college. I was wondering how this might be possible in Unity? I can't afford Pro, so creating a plugin using the language ChucK (a C-based language used for MIDI input and sound synthesis) is probably out of the question. Is it possible to use ChucK directly within Unity (from what I understand from other posts the only supported languages are JavaScript, C# and Boo/Python) or does Unity itself have the capability of receiving and interpreting MIDI input?
To confirm, I'm not interested in using a standard keyboard to emulate a musical keyboard, it is necessary to have proper MIDI input. I would then use the Audio object to create the sound, so the question is not really concerning this as I have no problem with using this.
