Question by Wizardman290 · Aug 15, 2015 at 01:48 AM · tutorialadvice

Looking to learn.

I am a sophomore in high school, and sadly all my school has is verrrryyy basic introductory classes and most of those are for websites and stuff, not for making games or programming i will do. I am curious as to any free resources you guys may have that i can use to learn c# and Unity3D, Like youtube tutorials or forum threads or something similar. Thanks ahead of time! Just tired of not being able to learn what i want from high school. Tired of learning about mitochondria and periodic table of elements lmao. Want to actually learn how to do what i want to do.

You'll probably get told that this question doesn't belong here and to post in the forum, but you have answered your own question anyway by mentioning youtube and forum threads. Just search youtube for "Unity tutorial" and there will be lot's of stuff depending on what you want to do. That's what I did, then when the tutorial doesn't quite fit your needs and you need to adapt it, you come here and ask specific questions about why the stuff you tried didn't work.

You'd be surprised at the ways you can connect knowledge of biological and chemical studies into programming practices and game concepts.

Anyway, @MajorParts is definitely right that it's actually very easy to find introductory material for using Unity in all aspects. For an overview of how information is presented to you outside of programming, you can start here. Then, a common learning experience can be found in this project.

And ik at some point it may come in to play, but do not see myself making a game like Subnautica anytime in my future.
